'Strengthening Palliative Care in Gippsland' Partnerships
Launch
Department of Human Services Gippsland Region Director Val Callister,
pictured with the Chair of GRPCC Anne Curtin, launched the Specialist
Palliative Care Partnerships for Gippsland during Palliative Care Week
and writes...
I was delighted to be present at the recent launch of the specialist
palliative care partnership between the GRPCC, Southern Health, La
Trobe University and Divisions’ of General Practice. This partnership
will be of great practical benefit to professionals and volunteers.
The Training Day that followed was a good example of the specialist
partnership in action. There is no doubt the GRPCC is utilising the medical purchasing fund
for good effect in Gippsland, prompting high level of interest by Gippsland’s
GP’s with seven taking up scholarships.
There is a lot happening in palliative care. I am confident the GRPCC
will continue to mobilise support for Gippsland’s palliative care
services in keeping with the consortium’s vision and purpose.
