 Positive Future for Leongatha Hospital
The redevelopment of the Leongatha Hospital moved a step closer to reality on 10th December after a very positive community deputation to the Minister for Health.
The deputation comprising Gary Templeton, Jim Fawcett and Tracey Gibson accompanied by the Member for Gippsland South and Nationals Leader, Peter Ryan, met with Minister Daniel Andrews and his advisers at Parliament House.
“The Minister has confirmed that the delivery of hospital based services at Leongatha is secured,” Mr Ryan said.
“He has also removed any lingering worry regarding the downgrading of existing service levels by committing to government support for the current service profile.
“The key issue now is around the provision of appropriate facilities from which those services can be maintained”.
Mr Ryan said the meeting offered the opportunity for very productive discussions with the government as to the necessity for the development of a new hospital.
