New Antenatal Clinic at Korumburra

The clinic will be attended each fortnight by a senior midwife from Leongatha Hospital and a GP Obstetrician from Leongatha Healthcare, who also works at Leongatha Hospital. The midwife will conduct most of the visits in consultation with the GP as necessary. All services provided through the clinic are covered by Medicare.

The intent of this service is to make it easier for women from the western part of our area to access antenatal care. Some women do not know that there is a hospital at Leongatha, or that birthing there is an option for them. Created as a result of the amalgamation of Korumburra District Hospital and Woorayl and District Hospital a decade ago,Gippsland Southern Health Service provides a comprehensive range of Specialist General, Acute, Aged and Residential, Allied Health and Community Services to the residents of the Shire of South Gippsland.

Gippsland Southern Health Service is funded primarily through the Victorian Department of Human Services and the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. It operates under the direction of the Minister for Health, Minister for Aged Care state-wide and nationally the Minister for Health and the Minister for Ageing.
